Business Intelligence Analyst

Overview

Define requirements, design and develop Business Intelligence solutions utilizing BusinessObjects Web Intelligence and/or other software packages where appropriate. Has an expert level understanding of banking processes and terminology as well as knowledge in Business Intelligence systems.

 

Responsibilities

    1. Gather and analyze report requirements from business end users and determine and implement optimal solutions to present the desired data.
    2. Provide data insights for the business and function, recommend areas for improved data consolidation, and automate and combine reports to streamline the client data and reporting processes.
    3. Act as a liaison between business unit employees and IT staff to address business data and reporting needs.
    4. Assist in training end users on the application, instructing them on how to gather, report, and summarize data and fields needed to manage their business statistics effectively. Assist users with the more complex data reporting questions and issues. Act as a technical mentor to clients.
    5. Prepare reports and requirements in accordance with department standards, policies, and procedures to ensure a common look and feel across reports, dashboards, universes, etc. Document BusinessObjects platform administration procedures and ensure they are updated and maintained for reference and backup support for the function.
    6. Troubleshoot BusinessObjects platform issues and elevate issues to Business Intelligence Specialist when necessary.
    7. Maintain awareness of new features and tools within BusinessObjects and determine how best to incorporate them into existing and new reports. Evaluate for applicability to the current data and reporting functions, inform users of new functionality that could benefit their area and present assessments and recommendations to management.
    8. Develop close working partnerships with the system vendor, SAP, banking platform vendors, as well as the client end users to advocate for system enhancements, apply universe updates, troubleshoot and ensure timely resolution to platform problems and issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

    • An undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A minimum of 1 -2 years related banking experience
  • Experience with SAP Business Objects products such as Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence, XCelsius/Dashboard Designer, Universe Designer and Information Design Tool is a plus
  • Experience writing SQL queries is a plus

 

Other Qualifications:

  • After Hours On Call Support required
  • General knowledge of how to create visually appealing reports and interfaces.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and on-the-job
