Overview

The cornerstone of the Bancorp’s Institutional Banking product set is the Securities Backed Line of Credit (SBLOC). The AVP, Underwriter/Closer role is responsible for the underwriting and document review for all SBLOC loan requests originating from commercial entities. Daily duties include the management of a commercial SBLOC loan pipeline from initial sales support through closing/documentation.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the underwriting and closing process for each loan, maintaining communication with the IB Sales team, partner firms, outside attorneys and vendors, and other parties as necessary, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. Ability to work closely with both internal/external counsel for the development/maintenance of documentation as well assist with the unique needs as required for complex transactions
  2. Review loan documents prepared by outside counsel, including, loan agreements, account control agreements and all other ancillary closing documents required for closing to ensure all terms of the loan approval and covenants are met
  3. Identify issues and work closely with the department senior credit staff, underwriting team, sales/business development organization to ensure procedural efficiency is optimized and communicate status and issues with transactions in process. Educate the sales team as needed to ensure they understand the underwriting and credit risks with certain clients.
  4. Interface with internal/external legal counsel to ensure optimal efficiency, risk mitigation and legal and regulatory compliance.
  5. Performance of periodic reviews of all loan documentation to ensure ongoing adherence to requisite banking regulations (Reg B, O, P, U, Z & state-specific regulations).
  6. Provide excellent customer service and subject matter expertise when called upon to support advisor and partner inquiries and issues resolution.
  7. Monitor industry news, changing regulations and compliance to maintain expertise in underwriting and closing credit facilities for the IB client base and credit product suite.
  8. Maintain the institutional banking business credit exposure to ensure adherence to the exposure limits set by the firm’s credit policy committee.
  9. Develop close working relationships with the Bank’s senior credit staff to discuss underwriting issues, concern, risks and associated matters.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of proper documentation and processing of commercial loans
  • A minimum of 5 years related industry experience in commercial banking, wealth management, and/or investment banking.
  • General knowledge of marketable securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs etc.)
  • Paralegal background or equivalent experience lending to trusts/complex estate planning entities
  • Experience underwriting Non-Purpose Lending within the Wealth Management industry strongly preferred.
