  • Overview

    Oversee AML and OFAC processes performed at varied frequencies ranging from monthly to quarterly. The Team Lead will also oversee the FIU’s (Financial Intelligence Unit) quality assurance control tasks to ensure suspicious transactions are appropriately identified and documented and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) are correctly filed in accordance with regulatory requirements and agency guidelines.

    Responsibilities

    1. Escalate alerts, cases and SARs that do not meet Corporate BSA standards and follow through with recommendations to improve the process.
    2. Update and maintain QA standards and procedures, including risk-based standards for compliance testing.
    3. Evaluate the effectiveness of FIU’s AML and OFAC controls including review of written desktop procedures for alignment with corporate policies and procedures.
    4. Supervise QA Analyst team. Assess staff knowledge of applicable procedures and analytical skills and provide guidance, coaching and training to develop skills.
    5. Conduct process reviews by examining documented procedures through executed process and confirm alignment of entire workflow while auditing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
    6. Oversee and conduct testing by reviewing samples of each process to gain comfort that controls are effective and working as designed.
    7. Evaluate record keeping practices including examining the storage of supporting documentation and maintenance of verification and review records.
    8. Report results of AML review of the tested elements to senior management with observations, findings and recommendations for improvement in test results.
    9. Drive the delivery of the enhanced system design and functionality, partnering with the IT teams as applicable to improve processes with automated tools.
    10. Identify areas of improvement in the detection and reporting of potentially suspicious activities or unusual behavior or patterns of activity.
    11. Recommend and develop sample selection methodology, key metrics reporting criteria and developmental opportunities and best practices to improve the quality assurance and control environment and monitoring processes.
    12. Develop close working relationships with others in the department to address and resolve issues and concerns in a timely manner.
    13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required Education/Experience:

    • An undergraduate degree
    • A minimum of 5 years related quality assurance process or testing experience in the banking/financial industry.
    • Investigative experience with special emphasis on AML, BSA and fraud prevention.

    Other Required Qualifications:

    • Strong working knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and OFAC regulations
    • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Excellent investigative and analytical skills with the ability to uncover root causes, identify patterns, and analyze key risk trends
