  • Overview

    Position Summary

    The Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of production, test, and development databases in the organization.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Review and implement database schema change requests including tables, stored procedures, triggers, and indexes.
    2. Monitor performance of databases, and help to identify issues and their resolutions when problems arise. Utilize third party tools from SQL Sentry and Idera to assist with performance monitoring.
    3. Act as the DBA expert on various projects, working directly with the Project Manager and Development team to ensure the project’s success.
    4. Develop, manage, and test back-up and recovery plans for the assigned databases.
    5. Implement High Availability technologies such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Mirroring for replication and other distributed data issues.
    6. Monitor industry trends and directions to develop and present substantive technical recommendations to management related to database platforms and technologies.
    7. Perform other related duties covering items such as data governance and data warehouse initiatives as assigned.



      • An undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    • A minimum of 3 - 5 years related experience with T-SQL development and database administration in MS SQL Server environment
    • Banking or financial services experience desirable


    Other Qualifications:

    • Strong familiarity with data analysis and database design technologies and tools
    • An in depth understanding of data modeling and modeling techniques including the creation of Dimensional Models for complex data sources (Star Schema, Kimball, Immon)
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Excellent analytical ability, judgement, and problem analysis techniques
    • Ability to write and understand complex SQL queries.
    • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment with the ability to dive into issues with data to discover root causes.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
