  • Overview

    Perform accounting functions associated with the Bank’s internal and external financial reporting. The individual in this position conducts financial analyses, prepares documentation for internal and external reporting, as well as works on other ad hoc accounting related projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform monthly close and consolidation in accordance with departmental accounting processes, procedures and timelines.
    • Complete, verify and validate monthly general ledger account reconciliations. Research and resolve variances and elevate issues to management as needed.  
    • Develop close working relationships with business operational units as well as other members of the financial team to understand financial data and accruals as well as question, validate and verify financial information.
    • Prepare supporting documentation for footnote disclosures ensuring that all reporting is in compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. May research accounting rules and regulations pertaining to footnotes or other financial reporting information.
    • Manage the posting and content of assigned general ledger accounts. Post, reconcile and review all entries for accuracy and completeness. May follow up as needed to identify or investigate expenses.
    • Create and develop new reports to address management requests for financial information. Generate and distribute standard and ad hoc reports in accordance with scheduled time frames and deadlines. Streamline existing reports as needed to better display information and/or trends. Review reports for accuracy and provide commentary as needed on patterns or trends observed.
    • Assist with the quarterly effective tax rate calculation and year-end tax model update.
    • Manage and complete special accounting projects.
    • Collect and analyze financial data as assigned. Discuss and prepare reports on findings.
    • Act as a backup to Accounting Department staff as necessary
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

    • An undergraduate degree in Accounting or a related combination of training and experience
    • 3-5 years directly related accounting or financial reporting experience

    Other Qualifications:

    • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in spreadsheet and graphical programs
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment with the ability to dive into issues with data to discover root causes.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
