  • Overview

     

    A closer look at this position:

     

    Support the enterprise environment including network administration, Firewall administration, VolP administration and WLAN administration.

    Responsibilities

    As an Enterprise Network Engineer, you will:

     

    Network Administration

    • Proactively monitor and manage a complex enterprise Network environment consisting of Cisco switches, routers and gateways, Nexus 7K, ASR routers.
    • Proactively monitor data traffic patterns within network infrastructure, detect operational problems and recommend improvements to ensure optimal performance. Make recommendations to management on enhancements to the network that will improve the quality and reliability of the networks performance.
    • Perform network closet remediation consisting of labeling and documenting all connected patch cables along with a detailed Visio diagram of the data rack elevations in all network closets.
    • Design, prepare, and deliver network performance reports detailing network status for management in an easy to understand manner.
    • Provision and schedule regular backups of all network switches and routers.

    Firewall Administration:

    • Proactively monitor and manage a complex enterprise firewall infrastructure consisting of Checkpoint, FTP and Cisco ASA servers.
    • Meet with auditors and cybersecurity teams to ensure firewall devices meet audit and control guidelines. May be required to design reports to ensure access and audit controls are in place and working as designed.
    • Maintain documentation relating to the Enterprise Firewall configuration and implementation.
    • Manage the physical firewall rule base and objects as well as any upgrades or enhancements to the firewall servers.
    • Design, prepare, and deliver firewall performance reports detailing network status for management in an easy to understand manner.

    VoIP Administration:

    • Proactively monitor and manage an enterprise VoIP environment consisting of legacy NEC networked systems, as well as Cisco Unified communications systems.
    • Monitor service desk ticketing system for issues and requests.
    • Work with vendors for ordering, and issue resolution when needed.   
    • Work with Network, System Admin and Desktop support teams on issues and projects.
    • Help with network closet remediation consisting of labeling and documenting all connected patch cables along with a detailed Visio diagram of the data rack elevations.
    • Proven understanding of network wiring, including patch panel and Cat5e / Cat6 wiring.
    • Knowledge of ACD routing as it relates to an IVR system.
    • Understanding of unified mobility technologies and integration.
    • Provision and schedule monthly backups on the NEC and Cisco CUCM including Unity Vmail.

    WLAN Administrator:

    • Proactively monitor and manage an enterprise wireless LAN environment consisting of Cisco endpoints, as well as Cisco Prime for administration.
    • Help with network closet remediation consisting of labeling and documenting all connected patch cables along with a detailed Visio diagram of the data rack elevations.
    • Assist other groups in the IT department when needed.
    • Perform other related activities as assigned

    Qualifications

    • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio
    • Participate in an on-call rotation
    • Eager to learn and keep up with technology

     

    Your credentials include: 

    • An undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience. (CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP R&S) designation)
    • A minimum of 3-5 years related experience in a medium to large network environment. Demonstrated expertise with network monitoring tools, SolarWinds, Wireshark, etc.
