Overview

The Director position plays a central role in the lending process. This position aligns with the Bank’s new RECM strategy focused on more traditional commercial banking and away from an investment banking model. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of the origination and underwriting of new commercial real estate loans, as well as assist with the asset management of existing loans and be involved in all aspects of secondary capital markets transactions. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Communicates with Borrower representatives to attain a clear understanding of all aspects of the commercial real estate loan; present to credit for quote; deliver quote to borrower representative and negotiate application.
  2. Underwrites real estate loans in accordance with Bank policy and capital market standards.
  3. Builds and maintains financial models to perform risk analyses under different operating scenarios.
  4. Performs full valuation, DSCR and Debt Yield analyses on commercial real estate collateral nationwide.
  5. Manages the due diligence processes, including preparing virtual data rooms, tracking and coordinating the information flow, and reviewing and analyzing the property, market, sponsor, and various 3rd party reports.
  6. Prepares asset summary reports, underwriting files, and other related documents for credit committee presentations.
  7. Assists in various Asset Management-related functions, i.e. draw requests, borrower communications, etc.
  8. Participates in day-to-day deal execution secondary market execution needs, interacting with deal team members, clients, transaction counterparties and other advisors.
  9. Monitors current events related to real estate capital markets and commercial real estate nationwide.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 10+ years in the Commercial Real Estate Finance industry focusing on Capital Markets, Commercial Real Estate loan underwriting, or related function.

Preferred Requirements

  • Post-graduate degree in Finance or Real Estate related discipline
  • MBA or CPA preferred with a proven track record of performance in related business experiences.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial/credit analysis with the ability to assimilate and interpret observations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organizational agility and excellent customer service skills are required to work with all levels of employees within an organization both internally and externally.
  • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment.
  • Good organizational skills are required to produce independent recommendations within tight time constraints.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
  • Position will require travel of up to 25 percent.
