Overview

Provide support to the Legal Service of Process Unit and handle administrative work related to legal service of process items, including subpoenas, writs of executions, garnishments, and levies for the organization’s core retail and prepaid businesses. The Intake Specialist will track and log incoming legal documents in the appropriate tracking mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  1. Scan and distribute all mail correspondence, faxes, emails, and voicemails received in group mailboxes, or forwarded from other departments, to the appropriate analyst.
  2. Enter identifying information into the subpoena and legal orders database.
  3. Track and log the progress of each legal document and any related inquiries in accordance with department processes and procedures.
  4. Escalate questions and concerns to the Legal Service of Process Manager.
  5. Mail appropriate customer notices and responses to levies and garnishments served on the Bank.
  6. Mail payment requests for subpoena processing fees.
  7. Develop close working relationships with others both within and outside the department to address and resolve issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: 

  • An associate degree in legal studies or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience in the financial or banking industry.
  • Two years related experience in legal/regulatory, or financial services environment.

Other Qualifications:  

  • Experience dealing with confidential customer information in the financial or banking industry.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with strong focus on attention to detail.
  • A team player able to work in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
