Overview

Analyze, design and develop business intelligence solutions in the SAP Business Objects platform, including BusinessObjects universes, universe-based web intelligence reports and free hand SQL reports. Create meaningful visualizations and dashboards from company data.  Assist with design of data warehouse tables and make recommendations for data integration/consolidation projects where necessary.  Consult with senior leadership on business intelligence direction and priorities.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions   

  1. Consults with and advises management on the development and implementation of a business intelligence strategy for their business.
  2. Integrates new data sources to the BI platform by creating and loading data warehouse tables and defining business objects universes to provide end users access and reporting to information to manage their business.
  3. Gathers and analyzes report requirements from business end users and determine and implement optimal solutions to present the desired data.
  4. Creates complex SQL queries to investigate data or to troubleshoot BusinessObjects queries.
  5. Provides data insights for the business and function, recommends areas for improved data consolidation, and automates and combines reports to streamline the client data and reporting processes.
  6. Trains end users on the BI applications, instructing them on how to gather, report, visualize, and summarize data needed to manage their business statistics effectively.
  7. Creates and implements standards, policies, and procedures for the business intelligence department to ensure a common look and feel across reports, dashboards, universes, etc. Documents BusinessObjects platform administration procedures and ensures they are updated and maintained for reference and backup support for the function.
  8. Assists with administration of the BusinessObjects platform by managing users, groups, folders and security. Adheres to all data security policies and procedures in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations governing data privacy, etc. Updates, maintains, and documents BusinessObjects platform administrative procedures.
  9. Troubleshoots BusinessObjects platform issues and activates designated vendor support channels when necessary.
  10. Maintains awareness of new features and tools within BusinessObjects, performs a risk assessment on platform enhancements, evaluates for applicability to the current data and reporting functions, informs users of new functionality that could benefit their area and present assessments and recommendations to management.
  11. Develops close working partnerships with the system vendor, SAP, banking platform vendors, as well as the client end users to advocate for system enhancements, apply universe updates, troubleshoot and ensure timely resolution to platform problems and issues.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Five years related IT experience preferably with a focus on data analysis, data visualizations, or data warehousing.

Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of data visualization theories and practices with the ability to transform raw numbers into visually appealing formats.
  • Experience with SAP Business Objects products such as Information Design Tool, Web Intelligence, Design Studio, SAP Lumira, and Crystal Reports.
  • Experience in the banking industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL server.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
