Overview

This individual would collaborate with a globally dispersed support team and key stakeholders outside the organization.  As part of the Advisory Team within Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM), the Vice President (VP), Bank Compliance and Exam Management Specialist will interact with a broad spectrum of business partners ranging from Challenger banks, Fintech firms, Cards Networks (Visa, Mastercard), and payment industry leaders to advise on the development, execution, and operation of innovative products and services.

 

Responsibilities include liaising with regulatory agencies and presenting the Bank's achievements during regular reviews, periodic visitations, or audit meetings. This position will also take on responsibility for the execution of the BSA/AML and Sanctions program, which includes working closely with business line management and preparing the annual BSA/AML and Sanctions Risk Assessments.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Serve as the primary coordinator for AML and Sanctions-related examination and audit activities (pre, during, and post-review)
  • Create materials for regulatory agencies (regional and global), including the FRB, FDIC, and Delaware Office of the State Banking Commissioner
  • Participate in meetings with regulators and auditors regarding AML/Sanctions issues
  • Lead drafting of annual BSA/AML and Sanctions Risk Assessments
  • Liaise with internal regulatory/exam management group during examinations to ensure proper coverage of regulatory deliverables
  • Execute escalation protocol for aging or significant exam observations and findings with proper tracking and documentation to evidence management attention and resolution
  • Provide periodic and centralized updates to regional and global senior management to promote transparency on the status of open issues, including tracking and aging
  • Advise lines of business during the development of new products and services and evaluate BSA/AML & Sanctions risk level
  • Track BSA, AML & Sanctions industry developments and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes, existing laws, and regulations impacting the organization
  • Prepare reports to be used by various oversight and governance committees to understand BSA/AML and Sanctions risk and other related activities and trends.
  • Assist BSA and Sanctions Officer in ensuring that business practices are aligned with Banks' risk tolerance and appetite
  • Review, analyze, and make risk-based decisions on Client accounts and relationships and account closures
  • Collaborate with various groups within the FCRM to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and network requirements
  • Develops close working relationships with business leaders and other stakeholders to advance a culture of compliance within the organization
  • Lead projects and perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive AML, exam management, audit, or other relevant experience with financial regulators/auditors
  • Expert knowledge of regulations and compliance best practices related to BSA/AML, OFAC, CIP, and KYC
  • Deep understanding of key business and overarching program initiatives to integrate business, legal, and regulatory concepts
  • Knowledge and experience with best practices in financial services regulation, AML typologies, and emerging risks in financial crime and money laundering
  • Experience applying AML guidance in non-traditional bank settings to address unique risks posed by fintech firms and challenger banks
  • A minimum of 6 plus years of successful and relevant experience in BSA/AML and Sanctions
  • 3+ years of experience in a senior compliance role in banking/consumer financial services

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field (Masters/JD Degree preferred)
  • CAMs, CRCM, or APRP Certification preferred

Other Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to professionally interface with senior executives and business unit management and staff
  • Ability to manage multiple and/or shifting priorities and produce professional and accurate work under time constraints
  • Excellent follow-up skills with great attention to detail
  • Team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex information to identify the critical issue and drive resolution
  • Ability to act decisively and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, as well as management and influencing skills
  • Previous project management experience (a plus)
