Enterprise Network Engineer III

An acknowledged Subject Matter Expert (SME) in networking technology, the Enterprise Network Engineer III researches new technologies for applicability to the environment, acts as a network SME for Bancorp projects, and develops and implements architecture and engineering standards.  Ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of network infrastructure, services, and related technologies in support of core organizational functions under the direction of the IT Network Manager.


  1. Plans, coordinates, and implements complex installations and upgrades to network devices and services.
  2. Develops and implements architectural standards that align the network with business and organizational goals.
  3. Develops and implements engineering standards to ensure consistency and homogeny within the network infrastructure.
  4. Peer review project designs and changes to ensure consistency with all Bancorp Banc and Information Technology policies, procedures, and standards.
  5. Implements regular and routine changes necessary for the operation of the network infrastructure.
  6. Conducts reviews and technical inspections (as prescribed by the Info Sec team) to identify and mitigate potential security weaknesses and ensure that all security features applied to a system are implemented and functional.
  7. Monitors all network monitoring tools to identify and resolve potential capacity and performance issues.
  8. Prioritizes and responds to Service Desk tickets, requests, and tasks.
  9. Participates in the Network Services on-call rotation. Responds to escalated issues in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs). Applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues.
  10. Functions as a SME and escalation point for network technologies.
  11. Coordinates and collaborates with other functional areas within IT and the business to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business requirements.
  12. Mentors junior team members to develop technical expertise and educate on departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  13. Complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to the systems documentation, policies, and practices.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years technical position experience supporting medium or large network environments.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.

Preferred Requirements

  • Expert level knowledge of various technologies including items such as: TCP/IP, Ethernet, Cisco Products, Meraki, Firewalls, Load Balancers, DNS, DHCP, and NTP.
  • In-Depth knowledge of current network technologies and trends.
  • Experienced with Cisco ACI and Cloud providers (AWS, Azure).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Position requires a flexible schedule. Off-hours support required using a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Position is required to travel (<5%) domestic and/or international.
