VP Real Estate Bridge Lending

Underwrite and close new bridge loan opportunities.   Candidates will also be involved in some aspects of asset management and capital markets transactions.


Essential Functions

  1. Reviews submitted commercial loan applications for completeness. Return and request information needed to complete the application review. Follows up with client and the loan originator on missing or incomplete items.
  2. Obtains and evaluates financial statements, including but not limited to balance sheets and income statements, credit reports, tax returns and related documents to determine the credit risk of the commercial account. Analyzes statements, assess risk exposures, make informed decisions on credit worthiness of subject companies and provide recommendations to mitigate unacceptable exposures.
  3. Understands, interprets and applies financial and business ratios to the evaluation of credit risk.
  4. Communicates with company representatives and/or the commercial loan origination team to obtain information and a clear understanding of the commercial mortgage loan to ensure sound decisions are made on credit risks and exposures.
  5. Documents all findings and conclusions in accordance with all applicable banking and compliance standards and procedures. Ensures documentation is accurate, clear, and complete for the loan committee determination.
  6. Maintains up-to-date records, files, and timetables for future actions.
  7. Conducts all underwriting and review activities in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  8. Maintains awareness of updates to rules and regulations applying to commercial mortgage loans and identify their effect on review and underwriting processes, documentation, and/or procedures. Ensures adherence to regulatory deadlines.
  9. Develops close working relationships with commercial loan originators, underwriters, and other internal business leaders to communicate and resolve issues.
  10. Assists due diligence processes relating Capital Market transactions, including tracking and coordinating the information flow, and reviewing and analyzing company, sponsor, and market information.
  11. Monitors current events related to real estate capital markets and commercial real estate nationwide.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 7+ years commercial real estate finance experience. Bridge Lending and Capital Markets experience preferred

Preferred Requirements  

  • An MBA or CPA preferred with a proven track record of performance in related business experiences.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial/credit analysis with the ability to assimilate and interpret observations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organizational agility and excellent customer service skills are required to work with all levels of employees within an organization both internally and externally.
  • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment.
  • Good organizational skills are required to produce independent recommendations within tight time constraints.
  • Position is required to travel up to 20 percent.
