Overview

Location:  ***This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the U.S.A.***

 

Perform the due diligence needed to collect, track, and examine the required documentation from clients to prepare commercial loan packages for final underwriting. Interact directly with teammates, clients, brokers, attorneys, and third-party providers to assist in underwriting, closing, and servicing loans.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Collects, reviews, and validates loan documentation essential for originating conventional commercial loans. Follows up with applicants or applicable parties as needed to obtain missing information.
  • Obtains and reviews credit reports, CAIVRS, OFAC, KYC/CIP, and other necessary documentation for accuracy, compliance, and acceptability.
  • Builds new loan packages within the Bank’s origination platform ensuring proposed loan structures, along with all borrowers and guarantors, are appropriately captured and within Bank policy.
  • Completes a preliminary financial statement review and document quality check for any borrowing entity, corporate guarantors and/or affiliates, and principles in the transaction. Obtains any missing information prior to assigning the package to a Credit Officer.
  • Requests and receives tax transcripts from the IRS as deemed necessary by the Credit Officer to appropriately validate qualifying income.
  • Assists Credit Officers in generating a detailed Credit Approval Memorandum reflecting a full underwriting of the proposed transaction meeting bank standards for approval and doing so within stated service level agreements. Memorandums include, but are not limited to, financial statement analysis, transaction details, business history, demographics, management experience, and the loan request’s conformance to credit policy.
  • Develops knowledge of the loan closing process and can effectively cross train and assist Loan Closers as needed.
  • Builds close working relationships with business unit team members to maintain high level of service to internal and external clients.
  • Provides for the accurate reporting of all loan updates and status changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • A minimum of three years of commercial credit analysis, underwriting, and/or processing experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Formal bank credit training, the ability to spread financials, and/or a strong working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience closing commercial loans
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Team player able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
