Overview

The IT Governance Analytics Intern will support execution of the Enterprise Technology Governance strategy by delivering data driven reporting, dashboard solutions, and insights that enhance visibility into IT performance, risk, and strategic initiatives. This hands-on, project-based role focuses on building foundational governance reporting capabilities including KPI/KRI definition, dashboard development, and data quality improvements to enable consistent, transparent, and actionable executive reporting. The intern will partner with IT, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to transform complex datasets into clear insights, support governance forums (e.g., CTO/COO reviews, risk committees), and contribute to continuous improvement in technology oversight and decision-making.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 

1. KPI / KRI Development & Data Foundations

  • Supports development of a data dictionary and metric definitions
  • Maps metrics to available data sources

2. Dashboard Development

  • Enhances one executive-ready dashboard (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent)
  • Supports creation of standardized reporting views for governance forums
  • Assists in improving consistency and usability of existing reports

3. Data Analytics & Insights

  • Analyzes structured and unstructured datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and performance drivers
  • Produces actionable insights to support decision-making across IT and Operations
  • Assists in building analytical models to evaluate performance, capacity, and risk exposure
  • Helps standardize reporting formats and templates

4. Governance Reporting & Insights

  • Analyzes data to identify trends, risks, and performance insights
  • Supports preparation of materials for governance meetings and executive reporting
  • Presents findings in a clear and structured format
  • Monitors data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reporting sources
  • Supports documentation of data definitions, lineage, and validation controls
  • Identify and escalate data quality issues and recommend remediation actions

5. AI & Intelligent Automation

  • Explores use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) to enhance reporting and analytics workflows
  • Assists in developing AI-assisted summaries, insights, or narrative reporting for dashboards
  • Identifies opportunities to use AI to reduce manual effort in data analysis or reporting preparation
  • Supports experimentation with prompting techniques and lightweight automation use cases
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline and automate reporting processes
  • Promotes best practices in data management and governance reporting
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (IT, Risk, Compliance, Operations) to gather requirements

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
    • Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field

Preferred:

    • Coursework or internship experience in data analysis, reporting, or visualization
    • Interest or exposure in financial services, banking, regulated environments, technology, or risk management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, especially around data accuracy and reporting integrity
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

 

Technical Skills Required

  • SQL (basic to intermediate)
  • Microsoft Excel (data analysis, formulas, pivot tables)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent)

Preferred:

o Exposure to data modeling concepts

o Basic understanding of IT systems or SDLC concepts

o Interest or exposure to AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar)

 

Program Eligibility

  • Eligible to work for any employer in the United States for the full duration of the internship. The Bancorp will not assist in applying for visas or altering the visa status of applications.
  • Enrolled full-time in an undergraduate college degree program at the rising junior level, junior or senior level standing, enrolled in a master’s program or recently graduated within the past six months
  • Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, this will be confirmed by the recruiter.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree directly related to the department for which the internship program is listed.
  • Must be available for full-time internship.
  • May not be related to any employee of The Bancorp.
