Overview

The AVP, Embedded Finance API Developer is responsible for designing, building, and supporting secure, scalable API and integration solutions within a banking and fintech ecosystem. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role that develops and maintains APIs integrating with core banking platforms, payment processors, fintech partners, and SaaS providers. Operating within a regulated financial services environment, this role ensures solutions meet strict security, compliance, and performance standards. The position also owns API infrastructure across development, testing, and production environments, driving stability, scalability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  1. API Development & Lifecycle Management
    • Designs, builds, and maintains RESTful APIs using JSON standards.
    • Publishes, manages, and governs API lifecycles within IBM API Connect (APIC).
    • Develops and maintains integrations using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), including ACE Web methods and Integration Hub technologies.
  1. Integration & Connectivity
    • Implements and supports integrations using IBM DataPower (IDPM/IPDM).
    • Enables connectivity with core banking systems, payment processors, card networks, fintech partners, and SaaS platforms.
    • Manages secure hybrid connectivity between on-premise systems and cloud environments.
  1. Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering
    • Configures and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure components, including VPCs, security groups, network ACLs, load balancers, and PrivateLink.
    • Supports environment isolation and IP management strategies across DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.
  1. Security, Compliance & Governance
    • Configures and manages API gateway security policies (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting, IP whitelisting).
    • Ensures all API and integration solutions meet regulatory, security, and compliance requirements.
    • Maintains audit-ready documentation of system configurations, integration flows, and infrastructure.
  1. Operations & Incident Management
    • Troubleshoots API outages, latency issues, SSL/TLS certificate errors, and third-party connectivity failures.
    • Participates in incident response related to API availability, system performance, and partner integrations.
    • Supports deployments and ongoing maintenance across development, testing, and production environments.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

  • 2-5 years of hands-on API and integration experience in banking, fintech, or other regulated environments. 
  • Strong experience with IBM API Connect (APIC), IBM DataPower (IDPM/IPDM), IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), and Web methods.
  • Solid understanding of REST/JSON APIs and API security frameworks (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS).
  • Experience managing SSL/TLS certificate lifecycles, network segmentation, and IP management.
  • Hands-on AWS experience, including PrivateLink and cloud networking components.
  • Experience supporting production environments with strict uptime, reliability, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application, gateway, and network layers.
  • Experience integrating with payment platforms (e.g., card processors, ACH, payment gateways) preferred.
  • Familiarity with Open Banking APIs preferred.
  • Experience working within FFIEC, OCC, FDIC, or similar regulatory frameworks preferred.
  • Experience supporting vendor integrations (e.g., Galileo, core processors, digital banking platforms) preferred.
  • CI/CD pipeline experience for API deployments preferred.
